The Tobacco Control Evaluation Center is here to help!
Our Approach
Evaluation as Learning. We believe in the power of evaluation to help organizations learn from their own practice so they can use this information to move their programs forward. We recognize and value the experience of client programs and attempt to build upon their knowledge and that of their stakeholders throughout the evaluation process. We see ourselves as facilitators, working with practitioners to help them think through program processes, identify and develop appropriate learning tools, and derive meaning and utility from the evaluation results.
What We Can Do
For California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP)-funded agencies, we provide a range of technical assistance on program evaluation, including in-person and distance training sessions and individualized consultation via telephone and e-mail.
For other agencies, we can meet your evaluation and training needs through contracts or hourly consultation. The Department of Public Health Sciences, within the School of Medicine at UC Davis, has hosted the Tobacco Control Evaluation Center (TCEC) since 2004. In addition, we have conducted research and evaluation for the Public Health Institute, Kaiser Permanente, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Justice, and the California Department of Public Health on a variety of public health-related topics.
