Coalitions

Coalitions are the driving forces behind local-level tobacco prevention efforts. By partnering with coalitions, programs can educate, mobilize, and engage local populations in policy, environmental, and systems change work. Effective coalitions recruit and retain a diverse range of individuals and community groups to lead and amplify advocacy efforts aimed at ending the tobacco industry’s influence in their communities.

To ensure that work is practical and impactful, projects that pursue coalition asset objectives aim to enhance the diversity, involvement, skills, and satisfaction of coalition or advisory group members in their support of tobacco prevention activities. Assessing coalition activities and functioning is a required component of these objectives.
