Safety always comes first. CTCP created this safety tip sheet for all data collectors working on this project. If you are approached, there is a script for introducing yourself during a retail observation and sample letter you can use to help explain what you're doing. Ask your LLA for the letter you can use.
Introducing yourself in the store
Your LLA may want you to always introduce yourself in all stores, or they might only have you introduce yourself in a store that is small or empty. In a store that is small or has few people, it can be important to introduce yourself so that they don't assume you are doing something suspicious. You can use this guide for introducing yourself. Your LLA might also give you a letter to use when introducing yourself.
